recording from humax to dvd recorder

i've got a humax 9150t with 160gb disk space, works beautifully, i also have a daewoo dvd / video recorder combi connected with a scart cable to the humax
ive put my blank dvd in, chosen the same channel as the humax for the dvd recorder [EXT 1] and pressed record on the dvd player, should this be ok? any ideas if it will work?
can i watch another channel while its recording? do i have to leave the tv on while its recording?
any tips and advice please, most welcome, thanks:D

Provided the scart input on the dvd recorder is Ext1, then this will work.

Provisos: You can't watch anything different from the Humax while recording - anything it sends including recording notifications will be recorded. You can change to a digital channel on the tv but then you get no pause live tv. The quality of the recording will be ok but probably not as good as the original (digital decode followed by a recode).

If you could plug your humax hard disk into a computer, you can transfer the programmes you want using software such as humaxrw. The resulting file can then be recorded onto dvd using your favourite burning software. The quality will be much better.

i picked EXT1 as the channel for the dvd recorder when it came on otherwise it shows as 'no signal' but it shows what the humax is showing
i will look into transferring the files onto my netbook and then burning them onto disk, i have to buy an external dvd drive to do that though as my netbook doesnt have a dvd drive at present or could i record it onto a flash drive? would there be enough room on a flash drive? i would still have to burn onto a disk though wouldnt I
what cable would i need to connect humax to netbook?
